TheFinSense
Editorial Policy
Last Updated: April 12, 2026
TheFinSense publishes data-driven personal finance analysis. Every article follows a documented research and verification process before publication. This page describes that process.
Who Writes Our Content
All analysis is produced by Danny Hwang, Lead Quant Analyst and Founder of TheFinSense. Danny’s professional profile is independently verified on Crunchbase, LinkedIn, and Medium.
TheFinSense does not use ghostwriters. Every calculation, data table, and sensitivity analysis is produced and verified by the named author.
How We Research
Each article begins with a structured research phase that identifies peer-reviewed academic papers, regulatory filings, and primary institutional data sources. We do not rely on secondary summaries or aggregator sites as primary evidence.
Primary source categories we use:
- Peer-reviewed journal papers (Journal of Finance, Journal of Business Research, Financial Analysts Journal)
- NBER working papers and SSRN preprints
- Regulatory filings (SEC EDGAR 10-K, IRS Revenue Procedures, Federal Register)
- Institutional research (Vanguard, EBRI, Morningstar, DALBAR)
- Official platform documentation (broker help pages, fee schedules, account disclosures)
Every article cites a minimum of three primary sources. Source URLs are hyperlinked directly in the article text for reader verification.
How We Verify Calculations
All dollar figures, compound projections, and sensitivity analyses are computed using Python with the monthly-compounded lump-sum plus contribution formula. No dollar figure is estimated or approximated.
Our verification standard:
- Every future value calculation is Python-verified with a tolerance of ±$10
- Sensitivity tables test a minimum of five variable scenarios per article
- All rate data (federal funds rate, HYSA rates, expense ratios) includes the source URL and retrieval date
- Case study parameters are disclosed in a visible table within the article
Full calculation methodology is documented on our Calculation Methodology page.
How We Handle Updates and Corrections
Financial data changes. We follow a structured update cycle:
- 90-day review trigger: Every published article enters a 90-day review queue. At the trigger date, we re-verify rate data, contribution limits, and regulatory references against current sources.
- Rate-sensitive updates: Articles referencing federal funds rate, HYSA yields, or IRS contribution limits are updated within 30 days of any policy change.
- Correction policy: If a calculation error or factual inaccuracy is identified, the article is corrected immediately. A visible correction note with the original and corrected values is added to the article.
Every article displays an “Originally Published” date and a “Last Updated” date at the top of the page.
What We Do Not Do
- We do not provide personalized investment advice. All analysis uses hypothetical case studies with disclosed parameters.
- We do not accept payment for editorial content. No article on TheFinSense is sponsored or influenced by any financial institution.
- We do not use unverified data. If a data point cannot be traced to a primary source, it is not included.
- We do not guarantee investment outcomes. Past performance data and projections are for educational purposes only.
