About TheFinSense
A financial research site built for readers who want to see the reasoning, not just the result.
TheFinSense publishes independent financial education and original research grounded in sourced evidence, visible assumptions, and reproducible calculations.
TheFinSense covers portfolio costs, taxes, brokerage mechanics, retirement accounts, market structure, financial statements, valuation metrics, and long-horizon investment models. Some pages explain a rule. Others compare products, test a claim, or publish original findings.
The working standard is simple: a material claim should point back to the source that supports it, a model should show the assumptions that drive it, and a conclusion should stay inside the evidence. When evidence is incomplete, stale, contested, or too weak, the limitation is stated or the claim is left out.
The goal is not to make finance sound dramatic. It is to make it legible.
What readers should expect
The source, the assumptions, and the limit should all be visible.
The source
Official data, filings, issuer documents, academic research, and original datasets are used when they directly answer the question.
The assumptions
Rates, dates, denominators, time horizons, timing conventions, and exclusions should be explicit when they materially affect the result.
The limit
Current snapshots, historical comparisons, scenarios, and backtests answer different questions and are not presented as interchangeable proof.
Featured research
The Q1 2026 Balance Sheet Stress Report
TheFinSense’s published working paper reviews the most recent available 10-Q or 10-K filings for 396 S&P 500 non-financial companies and proposes a three-regime framework for cases in which conventional debt-to-equity analysis becomes unstable or mathematically undefined.
It is presented as an independent working paper rather than peer-reviewed journal research, with public records available through TheFinSense Studies, SSRN, and Zenodo.
